We stayed at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The park is on the Atlantic Ocean side of Key Largo with a little aquarium, 2 small beaches, kayak trails, and a marina for glass bottom boat, snorkel, and dive tours.

We explored the neighboring key of Islamorada. While in Islamorada we went to Robbie’s Marina. You can feed the tarpon there but you have to watch out for the Pelicans because they can be very aggressive trying to steal the fish. There is a person with a stick that goes around chasing the pelicans away while you feed the tarpon through a net. Scott was brave enough to hold the fish the whole time while the tarpon grabbed it from his hand. I would see the big open mouth coming and drop the fish.

It’s been 30 years since we’ve scuba dived, so we opted for a snorkel tour. We were taken to the reef called Grecian Rocks. The reef was only 5-15 feet deep and the water was crystal clear.

We kayaked most of the trails in the park. It was really nice calm sheltered water through mangroves, some very narrow.

Here is a 1 minute video of some of the kayaking https://photos.app.goo.gl/UvP776iKJQVYMYkv6
We saw some great sunsets in Key Largo.
